Bluegrass traditions and transformations are celebrated on day two of the festival. The concert starts with award-winning No Strings Attached, based in Roanoke/Blacksburg, a traditional string band that consistently stretches the boundaries of string music beyond traditional concepts. For 40 years, the Seldom Scene have contributed to the progression of bluegrass from the early days of Flatt and Scruggs and Bill Monroe, to the more contemporary sounds that they created, and have brought scores of new audiences to the genre along the way. Bassist Ronnie Simpkins (and his brother Rickie), with the Seldom Scene since 1995, is a native of Christiansburg, Va.
The Oaks Victorian Inn and the Clay Corner Inn are running special package promotions for the Crooked Road Festival.
